This organic farm, situated in the stunning hills near Siena required a garden that reflected its ecological theme, so we have designed a low maintenance, Italian gravel garden. This will require very little water and maintenance and will underline the true ecological and Italian nature of the farm. Aromatic herbs will be planted in large swathes and will ultimately be sold as part of the farm's organic food range. An orchard with a wide range of antique Tuscan fruit varieties is being established along with a rich wildflower meadow to provide the farm with organic compost.
The 'agritourism' holiday appartments will provide the raw materials for the investment on seeds and labour needed to bring this Tuscan country dream to its fruition. A low maintenance ecologica Mediterranean garden, based on Beth Chatto's gravel garden philosophy, will hopefully enrich the eco tourism and save on water, of which there is clearly a very scarce supply in the western hills of Siena.
Work will soon be completed.
