this particular garden design is taking place in the heart of the famous 'crete senesi' the stunning clay hills that make up the famous tuscan landscape south of siena.
the garden is on a steep slope that slopes towards a sheer cliff and what's more the area is a site of special scientific interest, meaning that I am not allowed to build retaining walls in the garden. Terraces will have to be dug for drainage and access but they will have to be held together and prevented from collapsing by using soil retaining plants, such as Atriplex halimus and iris germanica
